Amazing health benefits of hog plum





Hog plum is a popular fruit and it is full of nutritional properties. It is available and fond of all. It is found throughout the year. It is grown abundantly in Peru, some parts of Africa, India, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Indonesia. It is sour in taste and when it ripens, it tastes slightly sweet. 

About 90% of hog plum is water. It contains sufficient amount of pectin fibre and anti-oxidants. Each 100 gm hog plum contains 4-5% carbohydrate, 1.1 gm protein, 36 mg calcium, 4 mg iron, 270 micro gram carotene, 10.28 mg Vitamin C and 20 mg Vitamin C. 

Hog plum prevents different ailments of the gum and teeth. It keeps skin, nail and hair healthy. It is also effective curing cough and cold.

Iron is the main ingredient hemoglobin and mayoglobin that supplies blood throughout our body. So iron is necessary for good health and it is possible to meet the need of 15-35% demand of iron consuming a hog plum every day. Iron is effective to prevent the anemia in our body. 

Hog plum plays a significant role to control the temperature in our body. It helps to decrease the excessive temperature of our body. It reduces the level of bad cholesterol in blood.

The fibre of hog plum is beneficial to prevent indigestion and constipation. It is also effective to remove spasm. It reduces the loss of appetite.

The bark of hog plum tree is used in herbal treatment. For example, the leaves and bark of hog plum tree is widely used in South Africa in midwifery.
